Newsletter 2!
(Ok, we are going to try doing weekly letters once these first 2 have launched!).
We know it’s very important to let you all know what’s going on for accountability and prayer support. We are sorry all our lovely friends for letting you wait sooooo long to hear what’s been happening with us all the way down in SA. You can be encouraged that we are alive and well J .
Jeffrey’s Bay.
The ‘Nations 2 Nations’ conference was crazy! It was very focused on Africa. There was LOTS of dancing and loud music, which took a while to get used to but by the end of the week we weren’t so scared! On the last evening they had a HUGE map of the world (It was too big to lay out on the floor of the church building we were using and it was a BIG church). We all wore clothing or our national dress from our home country (thankfully I own an England footie shirt!) and we prayer walked over all the nations of the world. It was very cool.
The base at J-Bay was much more basic than here, on the edge of a township. We were thankful when we arrived to find that the plan to sleep in tents wasn’t happening and we were to stay in the hospitality building. This meant we could cook our own breakfast of bacon and eggs! It was a blessing from God because otherwise it would have been a manky week, since the promised summer weather didn’t exist...more like autumn (we had all been assured it would be summer weather so we packed very lightly)! J-bay is apparently surf capital of SA so there were a few large surf-wear outlets (Billabong and Quiksilver). Tim went surfing every morning at 6am with one of the guys from Muizenberg. One morning he caught a 2.5m wave and rode it standing!
The route from Muizenberg to J-bay was absolutely beautiful. It is a famous tourist journey in SA known as the Garden Route. This made the 8-hour drive pass quickly.
On the way back to Muizenberg, Tim did ‘The World’s Highest Bungee Jump’. It was scary for him to do and for me to watch! We have it on video so everyone can experience it when we return.
When we returned to Muizenberg we had Botswana Week! One of the ladies from Muizenberg (Lynette) is starting up the first YWAM base in Botswana.
Outreach Preparation.
We now have our outreach group; 9 people in total, the largest group! All of the 7 other students are female, which is hard for Tim! We had some teething problems at first with the team but they are getting clered up. We have the responsibility of representing a healthy married relationship as well as good team leadership.
This past week.
This week the title of the teaching was Evangelism.
I have had cold/flu symptoms this week (Tim did at the beginning of the week) and am now left with a nighttime cough.
This week it has been cold and rain, rain, rain, just like autumn. I think the combination of the weather and initial outreach prep stress!
Future teaching weeks.
Biblical world view, Holy Spirit, Destiny by design, Spiritual warfare and outreach preparation.
Prayer.
* Outreach prep.
* Locations for our team to go in India.
* Good health.
* Deeper relationship with God.
* Rest!
We now have a ‘blog’! www.timandchloe.blogspot.com Hopefully this will be quick for us to update and we should be able to upload photos! Yippee!
One of our class mates has made a video and posted it on YouTube. It is for members of our class to send out, so people can see the group and raise some financial support. We thought it would be good for everyone to see the rest of our class and where we are staying. www.youtube.com/watch?V=TMX-TINq-G4 .
Please hold us in your prayers for our outreach preparations, good health, rest and listening to what God has for us each week.
If you feel led to financially bless our outreach phase, you can contact Sue in the office at ‘City Church Leeds’ or e-mail/ facebook/ blog us.
Lots of love
Chloë and Tim.
